Subject: Turkish customs requirements on cargo descriptions

Pursuant to Turkish customs’ instruction, all manifests MUST requested full and accurate commodity for all cargo discharged at Turkish ports as immediate effect.

General commodity name such as Spare part, Auto part, Toys, Textile, Tools, Chemical, Elect. goods, Machinery, and Vehicles will not be acceptable. Commodities should be manifested with their specific details.

It is also possible to use HS codes in Turkish ports and Turkish Customs will accept them. K Line policy recommends the use of a maximum of six digits. More than six is not recommended due to variations in local HS code tables.

Please take note that non-provision of full & accurate commodity name from shipper may result penalty from Port Authority, which will be account of shipper.
