Subject: Notification for Far Eastern Freight Conference (FEFC) Peak Season Surcharge ex. South China / Hong Kong / Macau to North Europe & Mediterranean

 

 

Please be advised that due to seasonal demand, Member Lines of the FEFC experience high and sustained vessel utilisation through the summer weeks.  This increased demand puts extra burden upon vessels and equipment and increases operating costs over and above those levels which are normally endured, particularly: -

 

  • Equipment Imbalance
  • Increased Terminal Congestion
  • Cost of On (and Off) Hiring Containers
  • Extra Cost of Suez Transit

 

For this reason, Member Lines of the FEFC will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) to apply to all Westbound shipments from Asia (presently excluding Japan) of USD 110 per TEU with effect from 1st August 2005 until 31st October 2005.
